Pipistrel Alpha Trainer 2 Aircraft - The Pipistrel Alpha Trainer is a Slovian two-seat, single-light light sport aircraft designed for flight training, manufactured by Pipistrel in Gorizia, Italy.
Based on the design of the Pipistrel virus, it is thought to be the cheapest solution for LSA flight training both in terms of purchase and cost, while still including a full air emergency recovery parachute system as standard equipment.

The aircraft has a high cantilever wing, two seats in a side-by-side configuration, a tricycle landing gear and a single 80 hp (60 kW) Rotax 912 UL engine and tractor configuration.
The aerodynamic design is based on the Pipistrel Virus but redesigned to make manufacturing and maintenance easier. The plane is made of the same material as leather, instead of connecting the honey in the Virus.
The landing gear was strengthened for practice, and the main wheel brake was replaced by a brake seat in the middle of the seat. The plane is equipped with a modern and cheap circular navigation device and GPS, instead of a full glass cockpit. Air brakes are optional to provide easy control and the flaperon has been redesigned to have 25 degrees of flap travel for short field landings.
Fuel consumption is estimated to be 9.5 L (2.5 US gal) per hour used in training and circuit-running.
